Another whim decision was Lake Como where we stayed right on the magnificent lake which stretched on as far as we could see boarded by mountain towns on all sides. Driving around the lake was gorgeous, we went for an hour and didn't make it half way but we did find a beautiful tiny town square with live music and flowers on every corner, right next to the wide open lake to eat.
