firenze

Florence had a more youthful scene with a hundred things to do and somehow we managed to fit it all in. As one of the most cultural cities in Italy, we went on a Medici overload by seeing Brunelleschi's dome and the Uffizi gallery which has been inside their original quarters for hundreds of years. Favourites were the Botticelli collection including the Birth of Venus and Spring which were breathtaking up close. Our 16th century accommodation was intricately decorated with columns and paintings making it feel like this whole city has been the experience of stepping into a time warp.
